And if you already have an established website – I salute you for your decision to finally look into this topic! Really, it’s not that complicated, if you have a good step-by-step template to follow.
- So what’s that GDPR thing?

- And your whole blog needs to be GDPR compliant as well
Sounds onerous? If you try researching everything on your own – oh yes.
Ignoring the GDPR – Is It A Good Idea? (No)
If you are like me, I have ignored the topic until a few days ago. I thought: “I must do something!” But then it sounded all very complicated and after reading some hours on the web, I felt frustrated and somewhat defeated. I did the reasonable thing to save my health – I decided to just ignore it.
Turning on the radio, the topic went on to be discussed up and down. I tried to relax by scrolling through my Facebook group, GDPR – GDPR – one article after the other – there was no escape.
Finally, I had enough and decided to contact a lawyer to have it done once and for all.
I thought: Rather having that $150 one hour informative talk with an expert, than having this constant feeling of “blog insecurity” looming on the back of my mind. If that would solve all my worries – great! Great?
The guy didn’t even reply to my request.
He was probably overworked in his law office, sorting through tons of requests for that topic.
What to do now?
What Can Happen If You Ignore The GDPR?
Check the Official Press Release from 24 January 2018 (European Commission) – scroll down to “What penalties will there be for businesses if they break the new data protection rules?” There it says:
€20 million or 4% of worldwide annual turnover
OK, so we better make sure our blogs are GDPR compliant, right?
My GDPR Blog Solution – What I Did To Save Valuable Time And Money
As I mentioned in the beginning: I’m not a lawyer – I’m a designer, a web-programmer and storytelling enthusiast. I love films and beautiful images, I have no talent for legal texts.
She recommended Lucrezia Iapichino – an expert lawyer who had created a step-by-step solution that can be clicked through and filled out in a few hours. With legal text templates to copy and alter for your needs in the most comfortable way. With pictures and screenshots! Love that.
